Angove Vineyard Select Limestone Coast Chardonnay

Cracka Review

Although the Angove family has been making wine for the best part of 100 years they still continue to develop labels that interest them. With the Vineyard select series they have chosen classic wine regions and made wines from the varieties best suited. This Chardonnay is representative of a really elegant modern style. It’s rich in peach and citrus with subtle French oak adding complexity before tropical fruit fills out the palate and furnishes the wine with great length.

Winemaker's Notes

Bright fresh peach and citrus flavours abound on the nose, reinforced by a light infusion of French oak. Fresh tropical fruit complete a lovely mouth filling texture and the palate promises moreish flavours and length with great potential to age for the next 3 years.

A great example of modern Australian Chardonnay from the best region for this variety in South Australia.

An impressive advance towards complex and engaging chardonnay at everyday price points, this handy follow-up to the '08 has pears and stone fruits, all nicely dressed in well-deployed winemaking complexity; some nougat and flinty notes too. The palate delivers texture and compact, well-crafted shape. Balanced to boot.

Each vintage gets fresher and less oaky making a juicy, subtle, toasty sweet stone-fruit flavoured chardonnay for the short haul.

Fresh and lively, with some of the grapefruit typical of Padthaway, along with nectarine; nice balance and mouthfeel.

This nose shows great nutty complexity for a young wine. Sweet and round in the mouth, with powerful peaches and cream flavours.

This is sourced from the southern Limestone Coast and has been treated with more care and thought than you'd normally find in a wine at this price. Much of it finished fermentation in French barriques and was lees stirred during maturation, while a small portion was made using natural yeast. It's fine, delicate and complex with peachy, melony flavours, creamy texture and a tight structure. Classy.

Nose has plenty to offer - cut hay, butterscotch and melons. Palate delivers attractive varietal fruits of citrus and peach, well matched by subtle oak.
