Cracka Review

Here's another ripper of a shiraz from Annie's Lane, but this time out of the Watervale region. Enticing smells of spicy dark berries and fleshy plums leap out of the glass, along with whiffs of peppery spices and anise and toasted cedar. The palate is rich and plush, with spicy and plummy flavours, fine talcy tannins, poised acidity, and a juicy, toasty finish. This will be great with roast lamb over the next decade.

Winemaker's Notes

This wine finely balances the richness of Shiraz with the structure of Cabernet Sauvignon. Plums, raspberries, red and blackcurrants, mulberries, and spices along with chalky fine tannins.

An elegant wine to serve with a delicious herb crusted rack of lamb with butter beans and spring vegetables.

Expert Reviews

The Wine Front (2012 Vintage) says
Annie’s Lane has been high volume but low key for some years – it has seemed. Suddenly quality seems to be on the up. This is a quality Quelltaler.

This is a well-balanced, gutsy red with a future. Red and black berries, rich and dense, laced with coffeed oak and finely threaded with tannin. Neat. But rich. And well-structured.
