The 1999 vintage is made from estate-grown, Clevedon (South Auckland) grapes, matured for a year in French and American oak barriques (30 per cent new). A blend of Merlot (66 per cent), Cabernet Sauvignon (31 percent) and Cabernet Franc (3 per cent), it is warm, rich and smooth, with berry, plum and spice flavours and a lovely suppleness of texture. A savoury, Bordeaux-like wine, it's already drinking well, but best cellared to 2002.
