James Halliday (2008 Vintage) says
Like the Clarendon, the hue is good, although not 100% bright; the demands of the hot '08 vintage have been met, presumably picked before the heat took hold. Abundant black fruits, bitter chocolate and French oak all come together well, the tannins ripe but balanced.

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Bright colour; a focused black fruit bouquet, with some charry oak and a slight floral edge to the fruit; the palate is full-bodied, with a savoury mineral edge to the fruit; good acid drive provides lightness and length on the finish.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Similar colour but almost a role reversal with Clarendon; fruit more defined and slightly longer perhaps; 100% French oak (part new).

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Absolutely floods the mouth with flavours ranging through blackberry, spice and dark chocolate; no hint of dead fruit or high alcohol, simply good structure.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Deep red-purple; medium- to full-bodied; flooded with rich blackberry, satsuma plum and dark chocolate backed up by quality French oak. Soft tannins.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Powerful, intense, rich spice, licorice and bitter chocolate; persistent but balanced tannins and oak; amazing (16.5°) alcohol does not unduly heat the finish.
