If you like your chardies medium-bodied with a generous dollop of oak, then this one will be right in your neighbourhood. There's plenty of stone fruits on the nose of this luscious wine, along with grapefruits, toasted vanilla and honeysuckle. The palate is quite rich and plush, with a decent hit of vanillan oak wrapped around ripe peaches, bright but friendly acidity, and a long, smooth finish that will have you pouring another glass before you know it!
The Premium Range Chardonnay is 100% Estate grown. The fruit was hand
picked in the early hours of the morning from the low yielding (3.7 t/Ha) Block
3 vineyard and transported directly to the winery.
Natural fermentation was used on 100% of the French oak barriques.
The wine was left to mature on lees to add complexity and texture.
The wine spent nine months in oak – 40% new with the balance in one-year old
The wine was blended, lightly fined and filtered prior to bottling.
Appearance: Pale Lemon.
Nose: Aromas of white peach, nectarine and fresh cucumber with underlying spicy
Palate: The palate is dry with a mealy texture. Medium-bodied, this wine is tightly
structured and displays a vibrant citrus and nectarine fruit intensity. The fruit
is aptly supported by spicy French oak leading to a persistent finish.
Cellaring: Enjoy now or cellar for five to eight years.
