Cracka Review

Here we have an easy drinking, totally smashable shiraz out of the Margaret River that would be the bomb with some lamb burgers. Raspberries, cranberries, blackberries and pepper spices waft out of the the glass, then the more medium-bodied palate chimes in with juicy red and dark fruit flavours, subtle licks of toasted oak and deli-meats, fine-grained tannins, and a smooth, slinky, spicy finish.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2013 displays rich and ripe blue and black fruits. Dry, fruit forward style that has evidence of seasoned and savoury French oak on the palate. Drink now or over next three to five years.

Appearance: Deep crimson red with purple hues.

Nose: The wine displays lifted aromas of dark black fruit with hints of warm spicy notes and vanillin oak.

Palate: A dry, full bodied and fruit forward style with black and blue fruit flavours on the palate. There are spicy, vanillin undertones from the new and seasoned oak that are well integrated with the fleshy tannins.

Cellaring: 3 - 8 years

Alcohol: 15%

Aravina Estate Shiraz

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2012 Vintage) says
Deep crimson-purple; a richly fruited shiraz with both bouquet and palate singing from the same part of the same page: blackberry, black cherry and plum retain their shape thanks to the controlled alcohol and oak; at the moment it’s all too perfect and too linear, but will unwind to show light and shade, texture and structure.

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Dense purple-crimson; has a great deal to offer at this price, with notes of dark cherry, coconut, vanilla and spice on the bouquet, moving to blackberry and black cherry on the spicy, lively medium-bodied palate, finishing with fine cedary tannins.
