Askerne Hawke's Bay Gewurztraminer

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2010 Vintage) says
This winery has a good track record with Gewurztraminer. The 2010 vintage was estate-grown, hand-picked and mostly handled in tanks; 15 per cent of the blend was fermented in old French oak casks. Fresh, lemony and slightly spicy, with a dryish finish (5 grams/litre of residual sugar), it has a slightly creamy texture and appealing, rose petal aromas.

This small winery has an excellent track record with Gewurztraminer. The 2008 vintage is a dry wine (4 grams/litre of residual sugar), estate-grown near Havelock North and principally handled in tanks; 15 per cent was matured in old French oak casks. Moderately perfumed, fleshy and soft, with light yellow colour and citrusy, slightly spicy and gingery flavours, it's ready to roll.
