Cracka Review

If Chardonnay does not become the biggest thin in 2011 we will collectively eat our Cracka branded hats. That’s how confident we are in this variety, so join us on the Chardy bandwagon and lets see if we can knock Sauvignon Blanc off the top spot. Diatribe over. This is typically varietal with melon and stonefruit as well as complexing butter and vanilla aromas. It delivers a really elegant texture with a long, dry mineral length on the finish. Chickens will flock to your table in order to be paired with this wine.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Mid straw gold.

Nose: Ripe melon and dried stone fruits with vanilla and butterscotch notes, and a subtle mealiness.

Palate: A wine of very elegant texture with stone fruit flavours, pleasing weight and a long, dry, minerally finish.

Food: Pasta, poultry, pork and ham, Mediterranean cuisine in general, white fish and scallops even in rich creamy sauces.

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2008 Vintage) says
The 2008 vintage was hand-picked, fermented and matured for 10 months in French and American oak barrels, and given a full, softening malolactic fermentation. A moderately complex style, maturing well, with mouth filling body and very good depth of citrusy, peachy, toasty flavours, it is fleshy and slightly buttery, with a sweet oak influence.

Michael Cooper (2007 Vintage) says
The generous 2007 vintage was hand-picked, fermented — partly with indigenous yeasts — in French and American oak casks, wood-aged for 10 months, and given a full, softening malolactic fermentation. Still youthful, it's a stylish wine, mouthfilling and creamy, with vibrant, ripe tropical-fruit flavours, fresh acidity and well-integrated, biscuity notes adding complexity.
