Austins Six Foot Six Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Six Foot Six sounds like an odd name for a wine, bit like the name of Russell Crowe's band - Sixty Odd Foot Of Grunt. However, don’t go confusing the two. Six Foot Six is named after a famous escaped convict called William Buckley. Legend has it he stood six foot six tall, so hence the name. This great value shiraz punches well above it's height, with lots of tempting aromas of dark berries, mocha and peppery spice on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied and juicy fruity, with more blackberry and anise flavours, friendly tannins, and a succulent finish. Lovely jubbly!

Winemaker's Notes

Sixfootsix shiraz is a rich, succulent and savoury style of Shiraz. An exotic array of aromas and flavours; blackberry, chocolate, coffee, licorice and spicy pepper characters in an easy drinking, medium-weight style which reflects the region and should have a broad appeal. Aromatic, rich fruit supported by subtle oak and offering an array of flavours. Blackberries complexed by spice, the suggestion of chocolate, coffee and licorice all saturate the tongue in a wine that shows restraint a premium cool climate region can provide.
