Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2007 Vintage) says
Over several decades, this honest, bargain-priced red has built up a deservedly strong following. The 2007 vintage is full-coloured, fruity, ripe and supple, with the earthy notes typical of Pinotage and good flavour depth. Drink now to 2011.

Michael Cooper (2003 Vintage) says
Over more than three decades, this smooth, moderately priced red has built up a strong following. The 2001 vintage is a blend of Pinotage (65 per cent) and Cabernet Franc, with 'a bit' of Cabernet Sauvignon, grown in Gisborne (mostly) and West Auckland. It's a fresh, gently oaked wine with a full, ruby hue and vibrant plum/berry flavours in a charming, supple, drink-young style

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
Over more than three decades, this smooth but fully dry, moderately priced red has built up a strong following. The 2002 vintage is a blend of Pinotage (90 per cent) and Cabernet Sauvignon, grown in Gisborne and West Auckland. It's a fresh, crisp, Beaujolais-style red (no longer oak-aged), with vibrant, ripe raspberry and spice flavours and good varietal character.
