Babich Gimblett Gravels Quartet Red Blend

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2003 Vintage) says
This is a Hawke's Bay blend of four varieties - Cabernet Sauvignon (half of the 2003 vintage), Merlot, Malbec and Syrah - matured in American and French oak casks (mostly seasoned). Still on sale, the 2003 is full-coloured, with a slightly peppery bouquet and plenty of plummy, spicy, sweetly oaked flavour, smooth and moderately complex.

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
The bargain-priced 2002 vintage is a Hawke's Bay blend of Merlot (principally), Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec, with 'a good dollop' of Syrah. Matured in American and French oak casks (mostly seasoned), it has inky, purple-flushed colour and strong blackcurrant, plum, herb and distinctly spicy-flavours. Its a weighty, firmly structured wine, in a style that nods both at Bordeaux and the Rhone.
