Babich Hawke's Bay Chenin Blanc

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1998 Vintage) says
Despite its low price, this label is emerging as one of the country's top Chenin Blancs. Building up well with age, the 1997 vintage is a mouthfilling wine with strong flavours of melons, pineapples and toast and a crisp, lively finish. The 1998 was grown in Gimblett Road, and a quarter of the final blend was fermented and matured in oak and given a softening malolactic fermentation; the rest was handled in tanks. It's a strongly varietal wine, fleshy, appley and crisp, with a fragrant, slightly buttery bouquet and an attractive oily texture.
