Bald Hills Last Light Riesling

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2010 Vintage) says
A quite expressive nose showing aromas of grapefruit and pear, with hints of lemon oil, jasmine and stone pitching in for good measure. Some creamy, leesy influence here also adds nicely to the wine s overall complexity. A dash of herbal nuance on the back palate as the wine finishes just off-dry, with a flourish of citrus, white flowers and stone.

This '09 is starting to show some development, adding handy complexity in the form of candied lime peel and toasty hints. The palate has quite direct apple and pear fruits, some assertive acidity, and a long, juicy resolve.

WINESTATE (2009 Vintage) says
Broad, developing wine with estery floral/citrus fruit and some residual sugar. Drying finish.

Michael Cooper (2008 Vintage) says
Hand-picked from a 1-hectare plot at Bannockburn, in Central Otago, the 2008 vintage is a full-bodied style (14 per cent alcohol) with strong, fresh, lemony scents and good depth of citrusy, peachy, slightly spicy flavour. Slightly sweet and crisp, it's likely to mature well.
