Cracka Review

This Shiraz is sourced from the engine room of South Australia - the Riverland - where vast vineyards are irrigated to create the fruit that goes into so many of Australia’s bargain reds. In this wine you’ll find captivating raspberry and plum fruit, a touch of spice all complemented by vanilla oak. The palate reveals a cacophony of berries with grainy tannins adding structure and weight. The fruit delivery is sweet and spicy with a touch of oak. It finishes smooth and dry and would pair well with a well cooked steak.

Winemaker's Notes

The Banrock Station Shiraz exhibits lifted aromas of raspberry and sweet plum with hints of spice supported by vanilla oak. On the front palate sweet raspberry and dark berry fruits are present. Medium grainy tannins are evident, adding structure; however this red wine remains soft. The mid palate is rich with fruit sweetness, vanillin oak and spice complexity, ultimately finishing dry and soft.

Food Pairing: Enjoy served with a creamy mushroom pasta.

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; the bouquet is firm and fresh with a mix of spice and earth varietal fruit. The berry and leaf fruit flavours of the palate are cleverly augmented by the use of American oak chips; no phenolic bitterness.
