Barossa Valley Estate E Bass Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Hello Barossa! Lots of rich chocolate plummy Barossan goodness here, even if it's more of a medium bodied wine than some blockbusting reds. Still, the overall effect is good, classically rich and choc full of flavour.

Winemaker's Notes

Lifted aromas of dark cherry, ripe purple plum, hints of spice and subtle integrated oak. The palate is firm and rich, the ripe fruit fills the mouth and the length of fruit flavours hold for a long time. Typical Barossa spicy Shiraz, of full bodied nature. An elegant finish of oak and spicy fruit is evident.

WINESTATE (2007 Vintage) says
Well-balanced, elegant style with spicy, menthol plum fruit and refined tannins.
WINESTATE Volume 34 (2011)
James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Excellent colour; a prime example of a very good vintage in the Barossa Valley, and also control of alcohol; blackberry and plum fruit is supported by fine-grained tannins and a touch of oak. Gold medal Sydney Wine Show '10.
Australian Wine Companion 2011 2010
WINESTATE (2006 Vintage) says
Unctuous, developing wine with a big, spicy nose and an earthy, leathery palate with a drying finish.
Winestate 2009
James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Firm and fresh in a ‘new’ Barossa Valley style; medium-bodied, with controlled alcohol; a tangy mix of red and black fruits; good finish.
