Barossa Valley Estate Ebenezer Cabernet Sauvignon

Cracka Review

The wine is dark red in colour. The nose displays classic Cabernet aromas of blackcurrant, violets, mint and wild berries with a hint of sweet chocolate. Juicy summer berries coat the tongue with fine and velvety oak tannins balancing the fruit sweetness. Rich, full bodied and youthfully austere with a long fruitful and spicy finish will enable this wine to age gracefully in the cellar for at least the next ten years

James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Has retained excellent crimson hue; a very well made wine with all the correct calls being made from the picking date onwards; has clear-cut savoury varietal fruit offset by vanillan oak; good tannins fill up the finish nicely.

From one of the relatively rare vintages in the Barossa Valley that was perfect for cabernet sauvignon; the wine has the slight savoury olive twist to its pure blackcurrant fruit one finds in cooler climates; the tannins are persistent and long, and in balance.

A firm, robust cellar style with a slightly meaty, densely packed bouquet of blackberries, dark plums, baked earth and graphite backed by nuances of leather and iodide. Ripe and plummy, with a long, deep and dark palate supported by drying, bony tannin, it's handsomely partnered by vanilla/chocolate oak. Long and evenly ripened, it finishes with mineral and graphite notes.

Holding purple hue; shows what can be achieved with Barossa cabernet if the alcohol is held in check; has good structure and clear varietal expression; stained cork an issue.

Just scrapes in for a 90-point rating. It has nice smoothness and a good amount of flavour. It tastes of blackcurrant and earth, ground coffee and leather, and perhaps a touch of cooked corn too. Its tannins are ripe and so too its fruit flavours - it lacks a bit of spark, but it's pretty tasty.

Complex cabernet; dark chocolate and mocha wrap around a generous palate driven by quite luscious blackcurrant fruit; even better than the '05;

Holding red-purple hue well; an elegantly structured wine with classic blackcurrant varietal fruit and a touch of chocolate; long, fine, ripe tannins. Exceptional Barossa cabernet.
