Cracka Review

It doesn't always get the recognition it deserves but, in the scheme of things, Margaret River has to be right up there as one of our best regions for Sauvignon Blanc. Of course the regions Sauv bushel is hidden a little (particularly in the context of the Margaret River 'classic' blend) but done well Margaret River Sauv is handy stuff. This falls into the crisp, aromatic and lively end of the Sauv spectrum, all grassy aromatics passionfruit aromatics and a direct crisp palate. Refreshing if just a little simple this is genuinely enjoyable drinking for a bit of Thai green curry.

Winemaker's Notes

This Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc produces wonderful aromas of passionfruit, red capsicum and fresh cut herbs. It displays a fresh yet complex palate with great body and full length.

NOSE: Passionfruit, red and green capsicum, fresh cut grass, asparagus and fresh herbs.

PALATE: Complex palate, very layered with great body and good length.

CUISINE: A food friendly wine that is terrific with appetisers such as vegetable dips, garlic and Italian seasonings in creamy sauces, fragrant salads, Thai food and poultry.

James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Vivid green hue; a pungent and expressive bouquet of nettle and pea pod, with citrus in tow; the palate is zesty and fresh, and should be enjoyed thoroughly chilled and as young as possible.

Ray Jordan (2011 Vintage) says
A tight and bracing style of Margaret River savvy. Dried herbs and passionfruit with subdued tropical flavours in a muted background. The result is a delightfully fresh and fragrant wine ideal for drinking in the short term. Makes a nice alternative to the wines from across the ditch.

Light, elegant style with sweaty tropical characters on the nose and gooseberry-like flavours balanced with residual sugar.

Good focus and intensity to the grass, herb and capsicum on both bouquet and palate; has good thrust through the long finish.

Clean bouquet; a rich mix of passionfruit and tropical fruits off-set by more herbal/mineral notes; nicely balanced.
