Cracka Review

It's a floral sort of beast this wine - which effectively means that it smells of flowers. Which flowers I'm not entirely sure. A little roses maybe? Regardless it has a nice fragrance with wood smoke, chocolate, peppercorns and more. Like many Margaret River Shiraz it's rather savoury too - a bony wine that is less about rich sweet fruit and more about spiciness and such. Net result is a Shiraz for immediate consumption but also with more than a slice of sophistication about it.

Winemaker's Notes

This Margaret River Shiraz is typically varietal with a perfumed aroma that is dominated by red berries, black pepper, spice and cedary oak. The palate is full of rich fruit, balanced tannins and a long finish highlighted with American and French oak.

Full palate with berries, ripe tannins, chocolate notes and integrated french and american oak

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Plenty of activity; with quite potent barrel ferment inputs; blackberry fruit and firm tannins.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Potent earthy/spicy black fruit aromas, then a medium-bodied palate following a similar track, needing just a touch more sweet fruit

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
Good colour; high-toned blackberry and raspberry fruit; the oak is a fraction edgy, but good all-up flavours.
