Barwick Wines The Collectables Pinot Noir

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Do you know what the only criticism of this wine is? That's not exactly Burgundian (ie from Burgundy) in style. As a result if you prefer a more delicate, Pinoty style then look away now, for these aren't the droids you've been looking for. If however you quite like your Pinot Noir to have serious depth and intensity then step up and have a sip, for this full flavoured style of Pinot has guts. Big, bark and berry guts with savoury firm flavours aplenty. Drink this with goose.

Winemaker's Notes

This Pemberton wine has been minimally filtered to preserve the natural intensity and structure of the wine. Wild fruits, lifted cherry, blackberry, leather and black olive dominate the palate with some spice and French oak complexities. The palate is intense with dark chocolate, seamless oak and ripe full tannins balancing the fruit.

COLOUR: - Light-mid ruby/purple.

NOSE: - Wild fruits, lifted cherry, forest floor, blackberry, some leather and black olive with integrated oak and spice.

PALATE: - This Pinot Noir has a full, rich fruit palate with dark chocolate, integrated cedary oak, perfect tannin structure and good length and acidity.

CUISINE: - Pinot Noir is perfect to enjoy with lighter meats such as goose and duck, as well as gamey meats such as rabbit. It also goes superbly with Italian style dishes.

A more savoury/earthy take on the pinot theme, typical of the cool coastal Pemberton region. Plenty of sweet spices and bright cherry fruit aromas, some earthy notes, brambly red berries and cedary oak. The palate has plenty of ripe bright cherry flavour, fine sweeping tannins and an alluring supple musky lift through the finish.

Vibrant cherry and redcurrant bouquet with a dash of chocolate. Strong varietal flavours on the well-structured palate. Great texture.
