Barwick Wines White Label WA Chardonnay

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

For anyone who hasn't noticed, there has been a real reinvention in Chardonnay of late. It started at the top end really as wines started showing less oak, less obvious ripeness, more minerality and finesse. Over time that has filtered down to the more approachable wines like this one which shows more delicacy and acidity than many others in the price bracket. A rich and flavoursome white, but still with an edge of restraint, this is pretty classic Chardy from WA's cool Pemberton region at a very fair price.

Winemaker's Notes

COLOUR: - Mid Straw.

NOSE: - Peaches, cream, butterscotch, vanilla and French oak.

PALATE: - This Chardonnay exhibits an intense palate with some riper citrus notes. There is a great length of palate with fresh acidity and perfect oak integration.

CUISINE: - Chardonnay pairs well with poultry dishes, pork, seafood or recipes that have a heavy cream base.

AWARDS: - BRONZE – Timber Towns Regional Wine Show 2009.

WINESTATE (2007 Vintage) says
Oak quite prominent on both nose and palate. Very attractive nutty peach aromas and creamy lemon flavours with a chalky finish.

Soft peachy fruit balanced by equally soft oak; easy-access style.
