Basedow Semillon

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Medium- to full-bodied, but very different to the days of the so-called white burgundy; attractive ripe lemon/lemon custard flavours in a drink now version.

James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
The traditional Basedow white burgundy style; while obvious, the oak is well-handled (partial barrel ferment and 4 months maturation); full-bodied, ready now, and not phenolic.

James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says
While unashamedly full-blown, full-bodied and in an old-fashioned White Burgundy style, still has some varietal freshness to tighten the finish.

James Halliday (1997 Vintage) says
Medium to full yellow; a traditional, full-blown Barossa Semillon style, with considerable oak input to both the bouquet and palate, yet not compromising the citrus and herbal fruit flavours on the palate. Presently has nice mouthfeel, but, as ever, this wine will be at its best in the year following vintage, and should under no circumstances be cellared.
