Cracka Review

Hailing from the Orange region of NSW comes this smooth and juicy merlot that is bound to be a hit with a nice beef stew. Aromas of dark berries, tobacco leaf and a touch of dried herbs lift from the glass, whilst the palate is medium to fuller-bodied, dry and succulent, with appealing cherry and ripe plum flavours, fine tannins, and a decent dusty fruit finish.

Winemaker's Notes

Deep brooding fruit crushed into dense, perfumed grape juice. Abundant blue and red fruits tempered by classic cool climate tannin structure. Powerful enough to cope with venison; rounded enough to compliment tomato based pastas.

Expert Reviews

James Halliday (2010 Vintage) says
Impressive colour and bouquet with a distinct bramble aroma and perhaps wild rose; the palate lifts the wine another notch higher, blackcurrant fruit, powerful but balanced tannins, and quality oak all in play. An Australian merlot that a Left Bank producer in Bordeaux would instantly relate to, sweet plum fruit nowhere in the profile.

Varietal character is well-expressed, but has a slightly hollow structure

A spicy, savoury bouquet, then a palate with a mix of cassis and black fruits plus a touch of black olive; medium-bodied, but quite powerful.
