Belgravia Wines Pinot Gris

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Gris is French for grey, but we at Cracka think this delicious white wine should be called a pinot 'greyt'. In the mouth it’s rich, lush and packed full of fresh stone fruit flavours. But, to get the full flavour experience, we suggest you try this wine with food. The bonus is it goes well with seafood, salads or something a little bit spicy.

Winemaker's Notes

Although made as a white table wine, the skin can range from a light pink to dark grey, hence the name 'Grey Monk'. Its often a shy wine, certainly withdrawn from the intensity of Sauvignon Blanc. Aromas it can bring forth are pear, elderflower and sometimes almonds. There is often confusion in comparison to the term Pinot 'Grigio'. In a nutshell, its the same grape, but the 'Gris' style is often picked later, allowing the grapes to ripen further and produce richer fruit flavours. As the 'Grigio' style is picked earlier, expect this style to be drier.

Our Belgravia Pinot Gris is all about showcasing the wonderful fruit from our new patch of Pinot Gris. The grapes were picked early to preserve natural acidity and careful blending has resulted in a Pinot Gris of subtlety and length. Mouthfeel is luscious – although its strength is in its balance, poise and purity. Excellent with shellfish and sweet-chilli dishes and unlike many, this aromatic wine has the structure to improve with time in the bottle.

Orange continues to impress; this wine has seriously intense flavours and an extremely long finish. Positively demands seafood.

Has above average aroma and flavour interest, with distinct dried fruit/pear flavours offset by good acidity.
