Bellbird Spring 'Home Block' White

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2009 Vintage) says
From the Waipara, this blend of pinot gris, riesling, muscat and gewurztraminer delivers complexity and richness, showing baked apple pie, rose water, some tropical notes and a mealy, nutty oak thread. The palate s a little forward - cork not doing anyone any favours here.

Michael Cooper (2009 Vintage) says
Showing greater complexity than most aromatic whites, the 2009 is a single-vineyard, Waipara blend of Pinot Gris, Riesling, Muscat and Gewiirztraminer, hand-picked and fermented and lees-aged in old oak barriques. Instantly attractive, it's a weighty, distinctly medium style (32 grams/litre of residual sugar), highly perfumed and full of personality, with rich, peachy, citrusy, spicy flavours, showing excellent concentration, complexity and charm, and a deliciously soft finish. The 2008 vintage , retasted in mid-2011, is maturing well - weighty and rounded, with lovely citrus-fruit, apricot and spice flavours, showing excellent complexity and harmony.

Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
This aromatic-blend approach is one that more and more producers are adopting - in the Waipara, it works a treat. Melding pinot gris, riesling, muscat and gewiirztraminer, this delivers complex pear, stone fruits and tropical nuances, plenty of honeysuckle and a rich, smooth texture.
