Bethany Eden Valley Riesling

Cracka Review

This Eden Valley wine represents at the more butch end of the riesling scale with about 13% alcohol. There's plenty of ripe apple, pear and subtle stone fruits on the nose, with sniffs of lemon and honeysuckle. The palate is quite dry and still lighter-bodied, with juicy peach and citrus flavours, bright acidity, and a refreshing and friendly finish that isn't too sharp.

Winemaker's Notes

The Eden Valley provides ideal conditions for the production of high quality Rieslings such as this. It is pale gold in colour with a delicate, expressive apple blossom bouquet. The flavoursome palate displays a perfect balance between varietal fruit and harmonious natural acidity, with wonderful length. The crisp, refreshing finish makes it an ideal partner for any seafood, especially oysters, and it is the perfect welcoming drink for whenever friends drop in.

Bethany Eden Valley Riesling

Expert Reviews

Tyson Stelzer (2012 Vintage) says
Bethany has pulled an impressively focused riesling from this outstanding vintage. It carries great concentration of lime zest and fresh lemon pulp, with a firmly scaffolded framework built for the long-haul. A touch of phenolic grip provides an attractive texture to a persistent finish.

Pale and a little fuller in the fruit spectrum on the nose, some more stone fruit_like aromas and a nice flow of flavour on the palate. Decent length and approachable style.

Jeremy Oliver (2012 Vintage) says
A fresh, textured riesling with some pinot gris-like character. It's heady and musky, with spicy aromas of pear, apple and cinnamon, white flowers and cloves. Its spiciness also pervades the palate - a long and racy expression of apple, pear juice, lime and lemon underpinned by a fine chalkiness and tightly wrapped in a crunchy acidity.

Jeremy Oliver (2010 Vintage) says
Very fresh, pure and floral, with pristine aromas of lime and lemon juice backed by suggestions of wet slate. Its juicy palate of concentrated lemony fruit has a chalky feel and plenty of intensity, finishing long, linear, fresh and brightly lit.
