Cracka Review

Viva la Rizza, or long live Riesling if you want its English translation. We can think of no other white grape variety that offers up so much structure or ability to express where it’s from, as well as an ability to age. Bethany has some of the oldest Riesling vines in the Barossa and make a wine that is just brilliant for pairing with fresh oysters. Floral and citrus characters on the nose and palate ensure a wine that is balanced and flavoursome with a crisp, dry finish.

Winemaker's Notes

The Eden Valley provides ideal conditions for the production of high quality Rieslings such as this. The 2011 vintage was cooler than usual and the moist ripening conditions allowed us to pick the fruit at a higher natural acidity but with excellent flavour ripe characters. The intense varietal aromas are followed by a green apple palate and a crisp, refreshing finish. Enjoy with natural oysters or grilled whiting.

Bethany Riesling

Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
One of the best wines under this label for some time, with a spicy, musky and floral perfume of green apples, lime juice and pear. Round, generous and forward, it's a richer and more generous riesling whose juicy, chewy palate of assertive citrus and apple fruit finishes with length and shape. Polished and well presented.
