Bilancia La Collina White

Expert Reviews

Nick Stock (2008 Vintage) says
A blended white of mysterious conception, this 85% viognier and 15% gewurztraminer concoction has smooth stone fruits, apricots and pears. The palate's worked into complex textural form, with some nutty barrel-derived flavour building throughout a smooth, balanced, flavoursome palate. Terrific wine.

Michael Cooper (2008 Vintage) says
From Bilancia, the debut 2008 vintage was estate-grown on the terraces and gravels of la collina, in the Gimblett Gravels, Hawke's Bay. A blend of hand-picked Viognier (85 per cent) and Gewiirztraminer (15 per cent), fermented with indigenous yeasts and lees-aged for 14 months in seasoned oak casks, it is very weighty, ripe and rounded, with deep peach, apricot and spice flavours. A very distinctive and authoritative dry wine, it reminds me of a Rhone Valley white.
