Bilancia Syrah Viognier

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2008 Vintage) says
This Hawke's Bay red is blended from sites in the Gimblett Gravels (85 per cent in 2008) and the company's own block, la collina, on Roy's Hill (15 per cent). Co-fermented with Viognier (6 per cent) and matured in French oak barriques (40 per cent new), the 2008 vintage has youthful, purple-flushed colour. Concentrated and vibrantly fruity, with ripe, peppery aromas, it is fresh, savoury and earthy, with lively acidity and good complexity. Drink 2012+.

Tyson Stelzer (2007 Vintage) says
Honed for the long-haul and exceedingly youthful now, there's still some 07 kicking around so grab it ahead of the 08. Lifted black pepper dances like a ribbon from bouquet to palate and finish.

Michael Cooper (2006 Vintage) says
This Hawke's Bay red is a blend of grapes from vineyards in the Gimblett Gravels district and the company's own block, la collina, on Roy's Hill. Co-fermented with Viognier skins and matured in French oak barriques (25 per cent new), the 2006 vintage is deeply coloured, with a floral, berryish, spicy bouquet. It is rich and well-ripened, with blackcurrant and spice flavours, a hint of dark chocolate, and excellent density and structure. Drink now or cellar.
