Blue Pyrenees Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

If you’ve never jumped on board the Pyrenees Shiraz Train, it’s time to purchase a ticket. It’s an elegant ride with no bumps but you’ll be guaranteed an amazing journey. It’s an olfactory experience with a veritable spice market of aromas including cardamom and clove before unmistakeable blueberry fruit and a hint of vanilla. Layered and long that integral spice core really unfolds amidst the blue fruit, chocolate and vanilla. Amazing body and weight to this wine that will only improve with age.

Winemaker's Notes

Appearance: Bright ruby red.

Nose: Black pepper notes over blueberry fruit and a background of cedar and vanilla oak.

Palate: The regional blueberry fruit gives way to the classic Shiraz pepper and spice notes and a vibrant mid-palate of chocolate, vanilla, and balanced acidity. The soft tannin structure of this wine allows lingering fruit flavours to shine throughout the long dry finish.

Blue Pyrenees Shiraz

Expert Reviews

Jeremy Oliver (2010 Vintage) says
A ripe, deeply flavoured, medium term shiraz whose juicy aromas of cassis, raspberries, blackberries and dark plums are backed by fresh cedar/vanilla/chocolate oak and lifted by a spicy whiff of white pepper. Medium to full-bodied, it's marginally jammy but avoids overripeness, revealing a richly fruited palate of black and red berries underpinned by fine, dusty tannins and polished sweet oak. Its structure provides shape and direction.
