Boekenhoutskloof Porcupine Ridge Syrah

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

If you can get your mouth around pronouncing the winery then a sip of their delicious wine is going to be a lot easier to get your mouth around. It’s rare to see South African wines on offer and this stunning Syrah is a taste of the Franschhoeck Valley not far from Cape Town. Thankfully this Merlot is silky smooth and not prickly like the Porcupine on the label. There’s a rich vein of plum and raspberry all carried by a soft tapestry of tannins and acids. A good match for that South African delicacy, biltong.

Winemaker's Notes

Renowned for its small berries and un-irrigated vineyards, the Swartland is the area from which we source the grapes for this wine. Minimal interference during winemaking and ageing secure the quality and profile, reflecting the climate and soil of its origin. French oak matured in older barriques to accentuate the fruit rather than have it overpowered by wood flavours.

Fresh and vibrant flavours of dark fruit, black pepper and violets. Succulent mouthfeel with good weight, balanced tannins and lingering aftertaste. Balanced and mouth-watering.
Alcohol: 14.7%
