Jeremy Oliver (2006 Vintage) says
An exercise in restrained power, this very intense, concentrated cabernet has a smoky, meaty and quite reductive bouquet whose intense aromas of red and back berries and cedar/vanilla oak have a pungent, greenish background with minty, menthol-like aspects. It's very mineral and almost briny, with a deep, dark and briary presence of cassis, blackberries and dark plums framed by a firm, fine-grained grip that finishes very long, but with a suggestion of mercaptan.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2005 Vintage) says
The wines under this banner were once labelled 'Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon', and the new name of 'The Patron' is still to receive final sign-off. It's a hero wine, but in a good way. It has lots of mint, mulberry and blackcurrant-like flavours. Quite a bit of warmth through the finish. And tonnes of juicy acidity -long term, there may be too much acidity, though it was needed to balance all that alcohol and fruit sweetness. Custardy, milky oak shows through on the aftertaste. Darn good in its style.
