James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Has all the varietal aroma and flavour hallmarks expected of cabernet overlain with that special softness (in the best sense) of Langhorne Creek, and touches of chocolate and herb to add extra interest.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Good colour; the bouquet is quite unevolved and still very fresh, showing cedar, black olives and cassis; this complexity follows through on the palate, delivering ample fruit on entry, and firming up to a full-bodied, quite dry and savoury finish, with the oak just poking through at the very end.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2006 Vintage) says
When we tasted this it was still very young and still building flesh. It tastes of pure, sweet, cedary blackcurrant and has a minty, sawdusty aftertaste. Already, it's showing gorgeous tannin structure and has all the elegant power the label is becoming renowned for. It needs time, but it's an outstanding wine.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Elegant medium-bodied wine, with some cedary notes starting to make their appearance on a perfectly balanced palate, the oak integrated, the tannins fine. Quality cork.

It's slowly becoming one of the classic wines of Australia. Given time, this will develop into a beautiful wine. It has heaps of chocolatey, minty, curranty flavours and is soft and supple with a long, structured, elegant finish. Length of flavour to burn.

Focused and pure, showing cassis, cedar and alluring florals on the bouquet; the palate is fine and supple, incredibly long and offers brilliant vibrancy and thrust on the finish.

Stalky, dense, distinctive.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Very ripe fruit; a mix of prune, blackcurrant and licorice; doesn't quite have the tannin structure to support all that fruit, but that is a carping criticism.

Very good hue; a fragrant and pure varietal aroma of mulberry, cassis, blackcurrant and earth, and an equally pure expression on the elegant palate; fine tannins, good oak and great length.
