Jeremy Oliver (2011 Vintage) says
A complex, fragrant example of a modern Hunter 'burgundy' whose spicy, lightly peppery bouquet of small red, black and blue berries and dark plums is lifted by a scent of blue flowers. Easy-drinking, smooth and supple, with an earthy, slightly leathery presence of bright small berry, plum and cherry-like fruit knit with fine, silky tannins that do provide genuine firmness, finishing long and gentle, with dusty, savoury qualities.

Nick Stock (2009 Vintage) says
A ripe and striking impression of power oozes from this wine. There s some licorice, dark, toasty oak spice, cedar, plums and a peppery edge too. The palate s got that Hunter trick of power and concentration in a mid-weight frame. Forthright and authentic style here.

James Halliday (2002 Vintage) says
Controlled power; dark fruits with some regional savoury touches to lengthen the palate and finish. From a 30-year-old vineyard.
