Rob Geddes MW (2011 Vintage) says
This wine has the solidity of a classic with seamless red fruit and fine oak and the balance tipping towards the fruit. The aromas start savoury with toasted whole grain bread, raspberry, red cherry, dried herbs and licorice. The palate is a crescendo starting with fresh berry, youthful slightly grippy structure and medium full bodied mouth filling red flavours to a deep finish with firm caramel, dark chocolate dryness in youth. A subtle classic.

A benchmark for Hunter Shiraz with a mix of dried herbs and black berry savoury with a large volume of top quality silky tannins discernible new oak when young in a durable medium-bodied wine. Shows the best flavoursof Hunter shiraz elegant complex and concentrated cherry and berry.
