Brookfields Hawke's Bay Cabernet Sauvignon

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1999 Vintage) says
Hawke's Bay winemaker Peter Robertson discontinued his Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, in a move designed to elevate the quality of this mid-priced wine, previously called Estate Cabernet. Stunningly bold in colour, the debut 1998 is fresh, vibrant, generous and fruit-packed, with sweet fruit characters and powerful tannins. Matured in French and American oak casks, the 1999 vintage is less ripe-tasting than the 1998, reflecting the cooler season, but still a generous red, fleshy and vibrantly fruity, with good depth of blackcurrant and spice flavour and some savoury complexity.
