Hawkes Bay is well known for its red wines, and here we have a bargain offering from this premium region. Aromas of dark berries, earthy spices, toast and savouriness waft out of the glass, whilst the palate is quite medium-bodied, with dark fruits and licks of toasted coconut in the flavours, a fine but solid line of tannins, and a fruity finish. Great with stews!
Appearance: An intense red colour.
Nose: Intensely dark, packed with blackberry, cassis, leather, spice and subtle oak.
Palate: Ripeness is the keystone to this elegant style of Cabernet Sauvignon. Firm in tannin, generous in fruit, it is a great food wine.
Food: Steak and mushrooms in a wine reduction sauce.
