Brookfields Ohiti Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2009 Vintage) says
Hawke's Bay winemaker Peter Robertson believes that the warm, shingly Ohiti Estate, inland from Fern hill, produces 'sound Cabernet Sauvignon year after year - which is a major challenge to any vineyard'. The 2009 vintage matured for 18 months in French and American oak casks, is full-coloured and sturdy, with strong flavours of blackcurrants, plums, spices and herbs, braced by firm tannins. A good, gutsy red, it's priced right.

Hawke's Bay winemaker Peter Robertson believes that Ohiti Estate produces 'sound Cabernet Sauvignon year after year - which is a major challenge to any vineyard'. The 2007 vintage matured for a year in French and American oak casks, is one of the best. Dark, with the distinctive aromas of Cabernet Sauvignon and mouthfilling body, it has strong, youthful blackcurrant, plum, spice and herb flavours, showing good concentration. Drink now or cellar.

Hawke's Bay winemaker Peter Robertson believes that Ohiti Estate produces 'sound Cabernet Sauvignon year after year-which is a major challenge to any vineyard'. The 2003 vintage, matured for a year in French oak casks, is a clearly varietal wine with some substance. Already enjoyable, it is full-colour red, with good depth of red-berry, plum and herb flavours, well-integrated oak and a smooth finish.

Michael Cooper (2001 Vintage) says
Flawke's Bay winemaker Peter Robertson believes that Ohiti Estate produces 'sound Cabernet Sauvignon year after year - which is a major challenge to any vineyard'. The 2001 vintage has full, youthful, purple-flushed colour. Matured in French and American oak casks, it has a spicy, leafy bouquet and fresh palate with good depth of plummy, minty flavours and gentle tannins. It's a slightly more herbaceous wine than usual, but still satisfying.
