James Halliday (2001 Vintage) says
Light to medium red-purple; the clean and fresh bouquet does not have overmuch distinction, but the palate really opens up, intense and long, with spicy savoury flavours and obvious acid retention. Spent 16 months in new and 2-year-old American oak, which it has fully absorbed. Grown 20 kilometres east of Milawa.

James Halliday (2000 Vintage) says
Medium to fell red-purple; the sweet berry fruit of the bouquet is unfortunately smothered by American oak, as is the lush, dark berry fruit of the palate. I simply do not understand why the wine should have been matured for 16 months in a mix of new American and older French oak. It would have been much more interesting to see the varietal fruit express itself.
