Cracka Review

This release is pale in colour and displays youthful green hues in the glass. The nose is lifted with aromas of citrus, tropical fruit and honeydew melon.

These follow through to the palate which is crisp and fresh with hints of fruitiness. When describing this wine the words zippy and lively immediately spring to mind. This wine is best enjoyed when young and vibrant.

A crowd-pleaser from this north-eastern Victorian winery: attractive tropical fruit flavours on the nose and palate and a gentle, balanced sweetness on the finish.

Quite a few of the white wines recommended in this book have almost imperceptible levels of residual sugar, to give them softness and approachability. This, on the other hand, has quite a noticeable level of sweetness - not dessert-wine-sweet, but just enough to balance the often high acid of the chenin grape. There are great appley, attractive, pulpy flavours, too, and we reckon the fruit and sweetness combined would make it a delicious wine for roast pork - with crackling, of course.

With each wine that they release Brown Brothers have a clear idea of their target market. This youngster will appeal to those who enjoy whites that are fresh, fruity and sweet. The grapes were picked at different levels of ripeness over the period of a month to provide additional interest on the palate: the wine has tropical fruit, lemon and apple flavours and a finish that is clean and sweet.
