Clear, bright crimson-purple; this is an immaculately balanced wine. The bouquet is fragrant; fine-grained tannins running through the length of the palate in classic cabernet fashion and combining with the fruit to provide a savoury finish.

Plenty of varietal personality with fresh black currant and dill/chervil fresh garden herbs complexity with a subtle resinous oak edge. The palate is mouth filling and full with great fruit purity and complexity to the ripe black berry black currant.

A measured and balanced cabernet that flaunts its regional minty, menthol-like characters. Bright aromas of cassis, crushed raspberries, dark cherries and plums knit tightly with smoky, cedary oak. Full to medium-bodied, it's firm and line-grained, with a drying cut of fine tannins beneath its line of intense small berry flavour and newish oak. It finishes with fresh acidity and should age over a long period.

Patricia has finally broken from her oaken cage and she's frolicking across the hills of the King Valley amidst a trail of vibrant berry fruits, an air of violet perfume and an undercurrent of coffee.

Bright colour; a deep and compelling bouquet, loaded with black fruits, black olive cedar and a suggestion of mint; the palate is dark fruited, with bright acidity, ample tannins and a dark, savoury aspect to the very long finish.

Jeremy Oliver (2006 Vintage) says
A powerful, ripe and robust cabernet in a traditional, longer term style. Deep, dark and rather closed aromas of blackberries, briar and cassis are backed by cedar/ chocolate oak, with earthy undertones. Framed by firmish, grainy tannins, it's long, elegant and saturated with almost amarone-like flavours of blackberries and blueberries, finishing with genuine length and a hint of soy sauce.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
No clue is given about the origin of the wine other than 'cool climate'; it has retained excellent colour, and has developed a range of secondary, complex aromas and flavours in a cedary/earthy spectrum; the palate is well balanced and long.

Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
An elegant, firm and fine-grained cabernet with a dark Penfolds-styled oaky bouquet of smoky, chocolatey nuances over a slightly meaty, minty and herbal bouquet of dark plums and small berries. Its long, dusty palate is laced with blackberries, cassis, cedar and cocoa, before finishing with a lingering minty core of fruit and a slightly herbal and tobaccoey edge.

Pronounced sweet fruit with quality oak, mocha chocolate blackberry all really well integrated. Built as a big wine with lots of density for the long haul and to be a hero of the cellar. Recent vintages have got brighter.

Even with five years' age, the fruit and tannins are still contesting primacy; happily, the contest is sufficiently even for it not to matter overmuch; good varietal black fruits have a nice burnish of cedary oak and tannins.

Campbell Mattinson & Gary Walsh (2004 Vintage) says
This is the best of the Patricia range of Brown Brothers reds. A very fine cabernet - and one built for the long haul. It has a nutty, curranty, strong presence about it with ropes of muscular tannin and lots of fruit power. Toasty oak plays throughout, and there's a clip of mint, but this is varietal, dense and robust. It's made mostly from grapes grown in the Pyrenees and King Valley regions.

James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Medium- to full-bodied; good texture, structure and weight, with pleasant earthy overtones to the cabernet fruit; falters fractionally on the finish.

Medium-bodied; black fruits, chocolate, spice and vanilla; supple, smooth tannins; good oak.

Very deep red-purple; lovely cassis berry aromas are married with but not swamped by French oak on the bouquet. The medium to full-bodied palate has excellent structure, with plenty of fruit, finishing with fine ripe tannins and positive but well-handled oak.
