Brown Brothers Semillon

Max Allen & Peter Forrestal (1998 Vintage) says
The release of a white wine with four years bottle age is rare indeed, especially at this price point. Of course semillon is one of the classic white grape varieties in Australia that ages best (riesling is the other). The 1998 Brown Brothers Semillon is an impressive wine with toasty caramel and butterscotch aromas, a soft, smooth, creamy texture and complex, tangy, vanilla, lemon-citrus and grassy flavours with some savoury edges. It is full-bodied, powerful and dry with some grassy straw characters lingering on the finish. A wine of character and interest.

Max Allen & Peter Forrestal (1997 Vintage) says
North-east Victorian winery Brown Brothers isn't the first name that springs to mind when you think of good semillon, but this delicious three-year-old wine has corrected that misconception. Thanks to its bottle age and some judicious, subtle oak maturation, the wine has developed really quite seductive, complex, toasty, smoky aromas and a rich, golden, crisp-finishing flavour of lemons and just a touch more toast. Drink now, while it's at its peak.
