Rob Geddes MW (2008 Vintage) says
Very appealing intensity of scented ripe black fruit aromas with a subtle tobacco edge. The palate's ripe and soft on entry with a solid length of fruit, the tannins are firm and long and fine and the wine is just a baby in 2013

Jeremy Oliver (2006 Vintage) says
Assertive and deeply layered, this distinctively regional blend has a dark, minty bouquet of cassis, dark plums and dark chocolates backed by suggestions of iron filings. menthol and freshmint. Vibrant and deeply fruited, firm and sinewy, handsomely structured, long and drying. Its dark fruit knits with rather smoky, mocha and ashtray-like American oak, which should perhaps have eased back by the time the wine is ready to open.

Rob Geddes MW (2006 Vintage) says
Massive in colour, young wine virtually impenetrable, very solid aromas, full bodied with tight tannins, silky fruit textures come with time. A fine wine of great balance and personality.

James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Full-bodied, rich and dense, with intense black fruits and equally robust tannins; the components are in balance, and the wine needs, and will repay, extended cellaring, cork permitting.

Jeremy Oliver (2005 Vintage) says
Rather closed and youthful with a very charry, cigarboxy bouquet of densely packed black plums and berries laced with nuances of mint and menthol. It's very rich and generous, firm and drying, but still rather simple and one dimensional, with an astringent undercurrent of loose-knit tannin. It finishes quite savoury, with earthy and leathery flavour. It just needs a long, long time!

Long, focused and savoury, with the fine-grained extract and minty, bright fruit that reflects the balance and elegance of its vintage. Dripping with cassis, blackberries and dark plums, it's meaty, smoky and dark-fruited, with an assertive background of chocolate/mocha/vanilla oak. Its seamless palate knits with firm, chalky tannins, finishing with lingering black and blue berry flavours and meatiness.

Jeremy Oliver (1998 Vintage) says
Deep, dark and chocolatey, with intense aromas of cassis, plums, black olives and fruitcake, plus slightly ashtray-like smoky oak. Powerful and extracted, massively concentrated, with rich, meaty raisin and spicecake qualities supported by smoky oak and a firm, bony spine of robust and presently unyielding tannins.

Medium red-purple; a clean and smooth bouquet with gentle fruit and oak provides a complex and savoury whole; the palate is nicely tempered and balanced, with dark fruits supported by persistent but fine tannins.

James Halliday (1995 Vintage) says
Medium red-purple; the bouquet is quite aromatic with ripe prune/mulberry/blackberry fruit; the sweet fruit flavours of the palate track the bouquet, finishing with soft tannins.
