Cracka Review

Help us make Riesling make fashionable again because this white grape deserves its time in the limelight. Never have their been better examples in this country and they really soar when paired with food. Take this one from Brown’s of Padthaway, it’s got a perfumed nose with lemon and lime as well as attractive floral aromas. It’s a burst of citrus before a floral palate that ends dry with crisp acids. Pair it with fresh oysters for ultimate satisfaction.

Winemaker's Notes

The 2006 Riesling is typically pale in colour: light straw with subtle green tints. The palate is as youthful as the nose, with a lovely fresh lemony acid core, and is as tight and fine as the day it was bottled. It is delicate yet dry, with flavours of straw and honey, which are completely consistent with the nose.

It is the perfect accompaniment to fresh shellfish: sashimi; steamed scallops with ginger and lime; natural Coffin Bay oysters; or prawn wontons.

Browns of Padthaway Wine Reviews & Accolades

"Attractive, still youthful green/gold brightness, fresh floral and citrus nose with its age beginning to show in some honey and developed sweaty notes overlaying the tight citrus and mineral flavours in the mouth. " - Graeme Phillips, Sunday Tasmanian - August 2010.

"The release of this three year-old wine allows the consumer an opportunity to appreciate the delights of a Riesling, with those sharp corners of a young wine knocked off and a lovely balance unveiled. There are still plenty of crisp citrus flavours, a good bodied floral and green apple character across the palate and a long dry finish which keeps on giving." - Phillip Stubbs, Geelong Advertiser - January 2010.

James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Glorious green-yellow; bottle age has been a boon, allowing the depth of the lime-accented fruit to fully develop and reach the start of a long plateau of maturity.
