Made from a blend of rondinella, corvina and molinari, the amarone wines are produced from semi-dried grapes, and tend to be around the 15% alcohol mark, which makes them quite a generous mouthful of wine. This one from Buglioni shows aromas of fleshy red cherries, dark berries and fruitcake on the nose, along with hints of dried herbs, baked spices and mocha. The palate is fulsome and warming, with spiced fruit flavours, a fine but solid line of tannins, a brightness to the acidity, and a smooth finish. Excellent with braised beef or strong cheeses.

Winemaker's Notes

Intense dark garnet color. Elegant aroma of mature fruit and spices, with slight hint of vanilla. Warm, persistent flavour, pervasive and harmonious. This wine is perfect with spicy and highly flavoured game. Serve at a temperature of around 16° C. Uncork at least one hour before serving.
