James Halliday (2011 Vintage) says
Pale straw-green; this is an object lesson for those making chardonnay in a vintage like '11, or any vintage for that matter; there is a beautiful harmony to the stone fruit, melon and fig fruit flavours, the quality French oak, and the mouthfeel. However, as the makers of the greatest white Burgundies have discovered to their cost, and Brian Croser with Tiers Chardonnay, using cork with chardonnay is Russian roulette.
Australian Wine Companion 2014 Edition 2013
James Halliday (2009 Vintage) says
Gleaming bright green-straw; a typically complex wine, yet also harmonious and elegant; here the flavours are layered, with cashew/creamy notes adding to the white-flesh stone fruit. This is the old bull.
Australian Wine Companion 2012
Nick Stock (2009 Vintage) says
Looks very fresh. Restrained and tightly wound fruit on the nose: this leads with nougat, honey and grilled nuts, some biscuit spices, nectarine and lemon. The palate rolls through in creamy, harmonious style, with the full array of baking spices, white peach and fresh acid balance. Terrific integration and complexity.
The Good Wine Guide
James Halliday (2007 Vintage) says
Glowing yellow-green; has immaculate balance and texture and structure, with seamless fruit and oak running through the long palate; gains a second wind with the finish and aftertaste.
Australian Wine Companion 2010 2009
James Halliday (2006 Vintage) says
Typical complexity, with obvious barrel ferment inputs, yet has a certain delicacy and excellent focus to the supple nectarine and citrus-tinged fruit; long, fine finish.
Australian Wine Companion 2009 2008
James Halliday (2005 Vintage) says
Has exceptional depth and complexity, yet no particular component stands out; rich stone fruit and barrel ferment underwrite a long life.
Australian Wine Companion 2008 2007
Jeremy Oliver (2005 Vintage) says
Chardonnay with attitude. Beautifully shaped, sumptuous and creamy, it's smooth, seamless and utterly hedonistic. Backed by meaty, creamy and mineral undertones, its luscious expression of grapefruit, lemon and melon-like flavour has a juiciness and a youthful fatness, but ties together neatly around some refreshing but very finely integrated acidity. Complete, balanced and persistent.
Australian Wine Annual 2008 2007
James Halliday (2004 Vintage) says
A beautiful wine in every respect; elegant but intense, superb mouthfeel and length; the winemaker inputs are so seamlessly interwoven through the fruit there is nothing more to say.
Australian Wine Companion 2007 2006
Jeremy Oliver (2004 Vintage) says
Sumptuous, generous and fine-grained, this complex and meaty chardonnay unfolds a floral perfume of grapefruit, lime and lemon backed by nutty, melon-like undertones. Long, taut and mineral, its vivacious expression of citrus fruit has a juicy, creamy core that culminates in a lingering, flavoursome and tightly focused finish.
Australian Wine Annual 2007 2006
James Halliday (2003 Vintage) says
Fabulously rich, tapestried stone fruit and nutty/creamy texture and flavour make a wine of great distinction.
