Byrne Vineyards Criminal Minds Clyde Shiraz

Cracka Rating

Cracka Review

Here's a bargain regional blend shiraz  that rates highly on the drinkability scale. There's plenty of dark and red berried fruit in this bright young thing, together with hints of spice and toastiness. The palate is medium-bodied and fullsome, with a blackberry centre, a touch of grip to the tannins, licks of mocha, and a smooth, juicy finish. Try it with a juicy hamburger.

Winemaker's Notes

So, scratch the family tree in Australia, and there is generally a criminal element in there somewhere. Our family, well, suffice to say we have some dirty laundry.

Today the Byrne family has a squeaky clean slate when it comes to criminal activity, and we have put our criminal minds to better uses. On our beautiful properties on the banks of the River Murray, and in the picturesque Clare Valley, we are making amends for the sins of our ancestors by re-establishing wetlands and pampering our vineyards.

Appearance: Bright crimson.

Nose: Vibrant raspberry with hints of toasty oak.

Palate: Clyde is our showcase of the best of the two regions. The Riverland Shiraz drives the wine, with deep berry fruits and a lingering acid profile. With the Clare fruit seeing time in older French barrels, there is just a hint of oak structure, and the distinctive Clare Valley chocolate notes. A persistent length, and enviable structure finish the wine.

Deep garnet; a fresh and spicy bouquet, revealing blackberry, clove and saltbush; the palate is juicy, forward and uncomplicated.
