C J Pask Hawke's Bay Chardonnay

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1999 Vintage) says
For her second-tier Chardonnay, winemaker Kate Radburnd emphasises Hawke's Bay's citrusy fruit characters ('the fruit should shine through') fleshed out with restrained wood. It's typically a fruit-driven style, delicate, crisp and lively, with good body and appley, lemony flavours with plenty of zest and drink-young appeal. The vibrantly fruity 1998 is fragrant, with strong, ripe citrus and melon characters, crisp and finely balanced. The 1999 is less impressive: fresh, clean and lively but simple - rather too simple for the price.
