Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2003 Vintage) says
The 2003 vintage of this Hawke's Bay wine is C. J. Task's only Chardonnay from the frost-afflicted season. Not oak-aged, it's a fresh, fruit-driven style with vibrant, citrusy flavours, finely balanced and refreshing.

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
The 2002 vintage of this Hawke's Bay wine is fresh, lemony and uncomplicated, with very little if any oak showing. It's an easy-drinking style with a slightly honeyed, smooth finish.

Michael Cooper (2000 Vintage) says
The 2000 vintage of this Hawke's Bay wine is a top example of fruit-driven Chardonnay. Grown in Gimblett Road, it is freshly scented, with vibrant, delicate lemon/apple flavours and a gentle oak influence. Simple but highly refined, with pure, persistent flavours, it's an immaculate, punchy wine, delicious in its youth. (Due to the crop losses caused by the devastating frost in November 2000, the 2001 Roys Hill Chardonnay is an imported wine.)
