Cable Bay Five Hills Merlot Malbec Cabernet

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (2006 Vintage) says
Grown at several sites on Waiheke Island and matured in French oak barriques for a year, the 2006 vintage is a blend of Merlot (39 per cent), Malbec (29 per cent), Cabernet Sauvignon (26 per cent) and Cabernet Franc (6 per cent). Drinking well now, it is mouthfilling and elegant, with fresh, plum/spice flavours, gently seasoned with oak, and good, savoury complexity. A skilfully crafted wine, it's likely to mature well.

Michael Cooper (2002 Vintage) says
Grown on five hillside sites on Waiheke Island and matured in French oak barriques, the debut 2002 vintage is a full-coloured wine with plum and spice aromas. Fresh and youthful, with good ripeness and flavour depth, some savoury complexity and firm tannins, it should be at its best from 2005 onwards
