Cairnbrae Reserve Barrel Fermented Sauvignon Blanc

Expert Reviews

Michael Cooper (1997 Vintage) says
The stylish 1996 vintage was fermented and matured for six months in one-year-old American oak barrels, with weekly lees-stirring. Maturing well, it's a powerful, adroitly structured Marlborough wine with rich melon-like flavours fleshed out with harmonious oak and a long, slightly flinty finish. The slightly Chardonnay-like 1997 was matured for five months in American oak casks. A full-flavoured wine with toasty oak on the nose, it's savoury and firm, with good depth of ripe, citrusy, figgy fruit characters and strong but not excessive wood.
